World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day!

A global tribute to the power of reading. The origins of this celebration date back to 1922, when Vicente Clavel, director of the Cervantes publishing house in Barcelona, proposed the idea. Though the concept was acknowledged in various ways over the decades, it wasn’t until 1995 that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 23rd as World Book and Copyright Day. This date honors the passing of literary giants such as William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

World Book Day celebrates the importance of books as tools for learning, imagination, and connection. Its mission emphasizes equal access to books and education for all.

This year’s theme, “Read Your Way,” encourages individuals to embrace reading in a way that feels most personal and enjoyable to them. Whether it’s through graphic novels, poetry, nonfiction, or fantasy, the goal is to inspire a genuine love for literature.
