How to Celebrate

Here are a few suggestions from the official website for how to celebrate:

Tips on Finding Poetry in the WCC Library

Poetry in Print

Go to the library’s main page and click the button for OneSearch.

Search for some keywords, such as a title, author, or subject. Examples:

Leaves of Grass

Emily Dickinson

Epic poetry

Love poetry

Poetry

When you get the search results, look at the left side of the screen and click “Available in the library.”

This will show you just what is here in print. Ask a librarian if you need help finding a book on the shelf.

Poetry eBooks

In addition to books in print, OneSearch includes eBooks, articles, and everything else that the library has access to through our databases.

You can limit a OneSearch search to eBooks.

Type in your keywords. When you get your results, click the check boxes that appear when you hover over “Full Text Online” and “Books” in the options on the left.

When you’ve done that, click “Apply Filters.” Your search results will now be limited to eBooks.

Poetry Magazines & Journals

You can limit your search results to articles in order to see digital magazine and journal articles from our databases.

However, there is also an interesting way to browse poetry journals.

In OneSearch, click on the button at the top of the page that says “Journal Titles.”

On the next page that comes up, you’ll be able to search for poetry magazines or journals.

Try a search here for poetry and see what comes up.

Click on a title that interests you, then in the record that pops up, look under “View Online” to see which library database it is in.

Choose a database to browse issues.

Multimedia about Poetry

In your OneSearch search results, look under “Resource Type” on the left and click where it says “Show More.”

You can now limit your search results to Images, Videos, or Audio.
